MLS Offseason Moves: NYCFC sends Ronald Matarrita to FC Cincinnati

Defender Ronald Matarrita, the only player to appear in all five of NYCFC’s playoff runs, was traded to FC Cincinnati for up to $600,000 in General Allocation Money.

The Costa Rican international appeared in 114 MLS matches during his five seasons after joining NYCFC ahead of the 2016 season from Alajuelense.

NYCFC will receive $250,000 in 2021 and $250,000 in 2022, and an additional $100,000 in GAM if certain performance-based incentives are met.
