In his first season with Manchester City, Zack Steffen is headed to a Wembley final after starting in the 2-0 win at Manchester United in the Carabao Cup semifinals.
Steffen has started all four Carabao Cup matches and was making his second straight start for the first time. He made his Premier League debut in Sunday's 3-1 win at Chelsea when Brazilian Ederson was forced to self-isolate after testing positive for COVID-19.
Steffen has had little to do in his previous five starts, but he came up with a huge save in the 9th minute, pushing aside a shot by Bruno Fernandes with a diving stop.
Manchester City won on goals by John Stones and Fernandinho in the second half to set up a date with Tottenham in the final on April 25.
Manchester City's next game is an FA Cup match against Birmingham City on Sunday. Regardless of Ederson's availability, Steffen, who has won all six starts, will likely start again.
