John Bradford named North Carolina FC head coach following Dave Sarachan's departure

John Bradford has been named the head coach of North Carolina FC, which is moving from the USL Championship to the USL League One after 14 seasons at the second division level.

Bradford was an assistant coach under Dave Sarachan during the 2019 and 2020 USL Championship seasons. Sarachan stepped down following the decision to move to League One.

Bradford serves as the academy director for NCFC Youth as well as the technical director of NCFC’s U-23 team. He is entering his 15th season with NCFC Youth (formerly CASL).

Mike McGinty has been named the team’s assistant coach, while Nic Platter will remain assistant general manager.

“John has been a key leader in our club for well over a decade and has been an integral part of building the youth-pro development pathway locally and nationally,” said NCFC president and general manager Curt Johnson. “His track record is impressive, and it is fitting that with additional resources focused on retaining, attracting, developing, and promoting some of the best young players in the country that he be the person to lead us.”
