MLS Moves: Sporting KC inks trio, taking league's 2021 Homegrown signings to 30

Sporting Kansas City signed three players to Homegrown contracts, all taking different paths to the MLS first team:

-- Midfielder Grayson Barber, 20, played three years at Clemson University, where he registered 13 goals and 18 assists in 49 games.
-- Goalkeeper Brooks Thompson, 18, was the youngest Sporting KC II signing when he joined was the then-Swope Park Rangers in 2019.
-- Forward Ozzie Cisneros, 16, spent the last five years in the Sporting KC academy and played for the U.S. U-17s.

All three players hail from outside the Kansas City area: Barber (Blythewood, South Carolina). Cisneros (Omaha, Nebraska) and Thompson (Floyds Knobs, Indiana).

The LA Galaxy made its second Homegrown signing in two days with that of 17-year-old defender Jalen Neal. He spent 2020 as an amateur player on LA Galaxy II for which he made 12 starts in various positions across the backline.
