It's a friendly. Why would Berhalter need to see Altidore in a match like this? Shouldn't he be looking at the next generation?
Good point.
While it's a fair point, sometimes it's good to put some experience in a very young team. He can also see how Jozy handles playing with the youngsters...
His experience is moodiness and laziness. This is a prelude to his reinclusion for meaningful games later this year. That's my take and GB is mistaken.
Jozy is 31 and a big person. He only scored twice in 15 matches in 2020. This could just be a chance to see if Jozy has passed his best used by date.
GB still is a young coach lacking experience and with it, skill and wisdom. Mr GB please, please do not play Altidore unless he has changed. He is too heavy, too slow with no vision to be a winner. He was better at 17 years old!
Correct about Jozy A. having been better as a 17-year old. I recall when he played in the EPL for a team desperate for goals: in 22 starts Jozy scored ONCE. His problem: he cannot read the game.
JA should not have a spot on this team whether friendly's or otherwise. That spot should be for a deserving young and coming player. Minutes for the new crew will be wasted.
