Dundee United's 25-year-old American Ian Harkes scored a golazo -- stunned St. Mirren goalkeeper Jak Alnwick stood like a statue as the ball curved into the left corner netting -- in Scottish Premiership play on Wednesday. Harkes' goal failed to spark a comeback as St. Mirren went on to a 5-1 win. Dundee United, which won promotion to the Premiership during Harkes' first season (2019-20), is in 6th place of the 12-team league.
Nice looking goal, but it had to do with the initial pass made to Ian with the right foot giving the ball a counterclockwise spin as you can see with the ball bending and all Ian had to do was to extend to spin with the inside of the right foot make the bend even bigger. If the initial pass was made with the left foot, it would have been a different story , perhaps it could have also been a goal, who knows. But it would have had a reverse spin effect to the ball perhaps making the ball drop and bounce in front of the goalie as he dove....
