What They're Saying: Jozy Altidore

“In MLS and U.S. soccer, we love to call players like myself old. But if you look in Europe, some of the very best performers are older than me. And so, I just think that’s a very MLS and kind of a U.S. journalist’s mentality, this notion that I’m all of a sudden old, when [Robert] Lewandowski is 30-something [32]."

-- Jozy Altidore, 31, on his return to the U.S. national team for which he debuted in 2017 at the age of 17. Altidore, who has 115 caps, said it was an honor to be with the national team for its January camp, ahead of Sunday's match against Trinidad & Tobago. (SI.com)

I apologize, but I can't help myself, Lewandoski and Altidore in the same paragraph is sacrilege. I certainly agree that age isn't to be looked at in insolation, but it's apples to oranges in talent. I believe Jozy to be a good man, but he's not my type of player.
