The United Soccer League hired
Betsy Haugh, the general manager for the Pulaski Yankees, as its director of women’s soccer operations.
Haugh was named the 2018 Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year as the top female executive in minor league baseball for her work with the Yankees, who play in the Appalachian League.
She played two seasons as a goalkeeper for Marshall University, starting 11 games as a freshman, before becoming an SID at Marshall.
Haugh's hire comes as the USL gears up to launch a women's league in 2022 from its membership of clubs in the USL Championship, League One and League Two.
The USL previously operated the W-League, which folded after the 2015 season.
Great to see more non-soccer people "running" soccer in the United States! Brilliant!
Wow, perhaps this 'brilliance' might perhaps move into and apply to coaching as well...
