Detroit City FC hires Tyler McManus to head youth development

Detroit City FC, the 2020 NISA fall champion, has hired Tyler McManus from the Sporting Kansas City organization, to serve as its director of youth development.

The Ohio native spent six years with Sporting KC, most recently serving as an advisor to its 15 affiliate clubs as their assistant director of coaching working on coaching curriculum and program development.

He will take on a similar role with Detroit City FC’s five youth affiliate clubs (City, Downriver, Genesee, South Oakland and West).

Besides the NISA champions, who have qualified for the 2020-21 NISA final,  DCFC has launched a women's team in the UWS.

“Tyler brings a wealth of information on how affiliate models are structured at the MLS level," Detroit City FC COO Todd Kropp, "but also has an open mind toward how we can continue to reshape the landscape to make competitive youth soccer more accessible and affordable for more players.”
