College Women: Big Ten co-leader Penn State breaks into top 10 rankings

No. 9 Penn State, who shares the Big Ten lead with No. 19 Rutgers, joined No. 3 UCLA as the only spring-only schools in the United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division I women's top 10 rankings.

All the other top 10 teams play in the ACC, Big 12 or SEC, which held fall championships.

No. 1 Florida State (11-0-0), which has not played in the spring, is one of three unbeaten and untied teams in the Top 25 along with Santa Clara and Georgetown. UCLA (8-0-1) suffered its first blemish on Thursday when it was held to a 2-2 tie by crosstown rival USC.

No. 2 North Carolina (11-1-0) won its first game of the spring, a 5-0 decision over Delaware.

The only new team in the Top 25 is Mississippi, which entered at the No. 25 position.
