Yanks Abroad: Weah's Lille falters in Ligue 1 title race

Tim Weah's Lille has led France's Ligue 1 most of the season on the strength of its road form (11 wins, four ties and one loss).

The problems Les Dogues have had are at home. They continued on Friday when they were held to a 1-1 tie by Montpellier.

Lille (70 points) leads defending champion Paris St. Germain (66), Monaco (65) and Lyon (64), which all play this weekend. Its only two Ligue 1 defeats in 2021 have been at home to home to Angers in January and Nimes in March.

Weah started his seventh games of the season -- his 27th appearance in 33 games -- but was replaced in the 68th minute. He had one of Lille's best chances in the first half when he was denied by Swiss keeper Jonas Omlin in the 32nd minute.
