Yanks Abroad: Henry Wingo achieves rare double

Henry Wingo, the product of Seattle youth clubs and the University of Washington, won his second league title in 20 months since he moved to Europe.

In his first season after being transferred from the Seattle Sounders to Norway's Molde, he won the  2019 Eliteserien.

After spending 2020 with Molde, Wingo was transferred a second time in January, joining Hungary's Ferencvaros, which clinched its 32nd NB1 league title. He was an unused sub on Tuesday when Ferencvaros beat Ujpest, 3-0.

Wingo, who has played nine games since joining Ferencvaros, will return to the UEFA Champions League playoff stage for the second straight year.

In 2020, Molde reached the final round, falling to Ferencvaros when a 3-3 tie in Molde followed a 0-0 tie in Budapest and sent the Hungarian club into the Champions League group stage for the first time since 1996.
