NCAA Division I Men's Tournament: Eight seeds all advance in second round

The eight seeds all advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division I Men's Tournament with wins on Sunday.

No. 3 seed Indiana needed to win a shootout to advance over St. Francis, Brooklyn. No. 4 Stanford disposed of Omaha, 1-0, on a golden goal by Charlie Wehan just 48 seconds into overtime. No. 1 Clemson got a scare against American, rallying for a pair of second-half goals to win, 2-1.

The biggest upset was Missouri State's 2-1 win over four-time national champion Maryland. The Bears used two goals by Spaniard Jon Koka in the final five minutes to advance to the third round for the first time.

Schellas Hyndman coached the final game of a coaching career that began in 1977 when Grand Canyon fell to No. 7 seed Washington. GCU was the third school he took to the NCAA Tournament after Eastern Illinois and SMU. He also coached FC Dallas to MLS Cup 2010.

Sunday's game was the 57th NCAA Tournament game in which he coached, tying him for fourth most in Division I men's history.

"It's a wave of emotions," Hyndman said. "It's on to the next chapter. I'll be connected to GCU for my entire life and I'll be watching them very energetically next year."
