NCAA Division I Women's Tournament: Clemson knocks off No. 3 UCLA

No. 14 Clemson advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament quarterfinals for the first time since 2006 when it beat No. 3 UCLA, 6-5, on penalty kicks after their match in Cary, North Carolina, ended in a 1-1 tie.

Tigers keeper Hensley Hancuff saved the sixth attempt by Madelyn Desiano to eliminate the Pac-12 champions.

Clemson is one of five ACC teams to reach the final eight.

Top-seeded Florida State moved into the quarterfinals for the third straight time with a 3-1 win over Penn State. The Seminoles rallied after Penn State went ahead on Frankie Tagliaferri's goal in the 20th minute, marking the first time all season they had trailed.

No. 2 North Carolina and No. 9 Duke both advanced with 1-0 wins. Diana Ordonez scored a hat trick to lead Virginia to a 3-0 win over Rice in a battle of unseeded teams. The Cavaliers are the only unseeded team still alive.

No. 4 TCU and No. 7 Texas A&M advanced on penalty kicks. TCU's shootout was delayed for almost an hour due to lightning after the first attempt converted by Georgetown.

Besides UCLA, the only other higher seed to lose was No. 6 Arkansas, which lost to No. 11 Santa Clara, 2-0.
