Relegation battles: Four Americans go down, more in danger

There will be no last-day relegation drama in England this season.

Fulham (Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream) is headed back to the English Championship after one season, repeating its last appearance in the Premier League two years ago.

The 2-0 loss at home to Burnley on Monday left the Cottagers 10 points behind 17th-place Brighton & Hove Albion with only three games to play in the 2020-21 Premier League season.

Fulham, Sheffield United and West Bromwich are headed to the Championship, wrapping up the relegation battle at the earliest ever stage, with three games to play.

Robinson, who started in the loss to Burnley, has played 28 games in his first season with Fulham. Ream, the Fulham Player of the Year when it was promoted last season, has played just five games in his second stint with the Cottagers in the Premier League. They won promotion in 2018 only to finish 19th in 2019 and return to the Championship.

-- German Bundesliga (18 teams, bottom two teams go down, third-from-bottom -- 16th-place team -- goes into promotion/relegation playoff). Werder Bremen (Josh Sargent) tied Bayer Leverkusen, 0-0, on Saturday to leave it in 15th place, behind Hertha Berlin (with a game in hand) on goal difference but ahead of Arminia Bielefeld on goal difference. Last-place Schalke 04 (Matthew Hoppe) has been relegated, but FC Cologne is only two points behind Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen and Arminia Bielefeld.

Bremen plays its last two games at 13th-place Augsburg and at home against seventh-place Borussia Moenchengladbach. It finished in 16th place in 2019-20 and needed to win a promotion-relegation series against second division Heidenheim to remain in the Bundesliga. The two dates for the 2021 promotion-relegation series are May 26 and May 29.
