D.C. United has signed defender Clint Peay from the Maryland Mania of the A-League. Peay was an original member of United, selected in the ninth round of the inaugural MLS draft in 1996. He played
38 league matches for D.C. over the first three seasons of MLS before being waived last June 30, scoring one goal. To obtain Peay for a second time, D.C. used a discovery option. To make room for
him on the roster, the club waived Brian Bates, who appeared in one match for United this season.
