The Miami Fusion waived Brazilian forward Roberto Gaucho and claimed Trinidad & Tobago forward Mickey Trotman off waivers Trotman will be available for action May 22, when the Fusion takes on
D.C. United at Lockhart Stadium. Trotman, 24, has been training with the Fusion in recent weeks since he was waived by the Dallas Burn April 20 to make room for Colombian forward John Jairo
Trellez. Trotman is expected to take scoring pressure off of Colombian forward Diego Serna, the Fusion's 1998 leading scorer and the team's current leader with four goals and one assist. Trotman
was originally signed by the Burn as a discovery player March 11, 1998. He went on to rank third on the team in scoring, with five goals and three assists in 15 starts. Trotman joins the Fusion's
two other international players: Serna and Argentine defender/midfielder Mario Gori. The Fusion has yet to fill its fourth international roster spot, which was opened April 23 when Colombian
midfielder Carlos Valderrama was re-assigned to the Tampa Bay Mutiny by MLS Commissioner Douglas G. Logan. The 31-year-old Gaucho had been signed by the Fusion Feb. 12. He tallied one goal and two
assists in five games.
