The 47th Copa America, the world's oldest international soccer tournament launched in 1916, kicked off in Brazil on Sunday with a 3-0 win by the host over Venezuela and a 1-0 Colombia win over Ecuador on a brilliantly executed free kick.

Edwin Cardona, instead of shooting from a free kick 12 yards outside the penalty area, combined on a short-passing sequence with  Juan Guillermo Cuadrado to feed Miguel Borja, who headed back to Cardona to finish.
