Spotlight

French star Paul Pogba was the focal point of the Bleus' 1-0 win over Germany in Munich -- for how he played and what he complained about.

It was Pogba's delicately chipped ball angled over the German defense that set the game's only goal in the first half. The flighted ball seemed headed for Kylian Mbappe but had enough height and distance to find left back Lucas Hernandez charging deep into the penalty area. Hernandez played a ball back into the middle of the penalty area, where German defender Mats Hummels, standing just outside the six-yard line and seeing Mbappe on his shoulder, hit it into his own goal.

Later in the first half, Pogba complained to Carlos del Cerro Grande that he was bitten on the shoulder by German defender Antonio Ruediger. Replays about the "nibble" were inconclusive, Pogba and Ruediger embraced after the game, and Pogba said the incident was no big deal.

"We've known each other for a long time," he said, "I felt it, I told the referee, he takes the decisions and he took the decision. He hasn't received any card and I think it's better like this. I don't want him to be suspended because of this."
