TV: European Championship audiences are up 12 percent on Disney networks

The first seven Euro 2020 games on ABC and ESPN have averaged 961,000 viewers, an increase of 12 percent compared to the 860,000 viewers for the first weekend of Euro 2016.

The increase is driven by the 1.4 million viewers who watched Saturday's Belgium-Russia match on ABC, the largest audience for a group stage match in 2016 or 2021.

Friday's Italy-Turkey opener averaged 700,000 viewers on ESPN, up 27 percent from the 2016 France-Romania opener.
