A-LEAGUE: 10-game TV schedule announced

The A-League will televise a package of 10 games on a local and regional basis during the season. Nine regular-season games, plus the championship, will be shown, featuring Eastern Conference teams. Games will be seen in each team's local market, as well as the Empire Sports Network, CTV Sportsnet in Canada and the USL Soccer Network, which includes independent stations in various parts of the country. The league is in ongoing negotiations with other regional networks and independent stations to carry games on a live or tape-delay basis. The defending champion Rochester Rhinos will appear in six of the nine regular-season games through a partnership with the Empire Sports Network and United Soccer Leagues. There is a possibility that the league may add one or more playoff games to the package, depending upon interest from stations as the season progresses. Talent for the games is yet to be announced, but the league is expected to use a pool of announcers and color commentators, including some local talent in the cities where the broadcasts take place. Producer for the games for the seventh straight year will be David Bolton. Coordinating producer is John Polis, associate commissioner at the USL's Tampa office.
