Euro 2020: The Sunday recap

Czech Republic 2 Netherlands 0. (Goals: Holes 67, Schick 79.)

Sunday, June 27
Belgium 1 Portugal 0. (Goal: T.Hazard 43. Att.: 11,504.)

The Netherlands had zero shots on goal in its 2-0 loss to the Czech Republic, the first time it has failed to hit the target in a European Championship match.

Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio came in for a lot of criticism for his failure to stop Thorgan Hazard's shot in the 43rd minute of Belgium's 1-0 win that eliminated the defending European champions.

But it was quite a shot -- curling one way and then the other -- by Hazard, who stepped out of the shadows of his more famous brother, Eden Hazard.

Hazard, 28, has played seven seasons in Germany, the last two at Borussia Dortmund. He battled injuries all season with BVB and was kept out of the group finale against Finland at the Euros.

“Judging by the number of the messages I’ve had on my mobile," Thorgan Hazard said. "I do think it’s the most important goal of my career."
