The Houston Dynamo completed the transfer of Zimbabwean defender
Teenage Hadebe as its first import signed as a Designated Player since 2017.
Hadebe, 25, comes from Turkey's Yeni Malatyaspor, where he spent two seasons. Previously, he played for Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.
The signing is the Dynamo's first major move since
Ted Segal, a New York-area real estate developer and financier,
became its majority owner.
“Teenage is a naturally left footed center back with speed, athleticism and an imposing presence,” said Dynamo senior vice president and general manager
Matt Jordan. “We are pleased that in the prime of his career, at 25-years-old, he chose to be a part our club. We are confident he has the qualities to be successful in our system.”
Before Hadebe's signing, the only DP on the Dynamo roster was
Darwin Quintero, acquired from Minnesota United in 2020. The Colombian forward has played only 89 minutes in 2021.
