"We have added two international defenders to our squad... and this is a significant coup for Middlesbrough and a big boost to everyone at the club," Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate said. "Both players feel they have a point to prove -- and the great thing is they want to do that with Middlesbrough." Middlesbrough-born Woodgate joined Real Madrid from Newcastle United in August 2004 for over 13 million pounds, but injuries reduced the center-back to sporadic appearances in his two seasons at the Spanish club. Huth finally joins Middlesbrough after a move was stalled earlier in this summer due to a failed medical examination. The 22-year old German center-back from never established himself in Chelsea's starting line-up, but has been capped 17 times for Germany.
