Spotlight
The 31-year-old Gianluca Lapadula, who scored twice in Peru's quarterfinal win, was born and raised in Italy. He became a Peruvian national team player last year, eligible thanks to his Peruvian mother. He scored his first Peru goal in its group stage tie with Ecuador.
• Paraguay playmaker Miguel Almirón, MLS Cup 2018 champ with Atlanta United, missed the game because of an injury suffered in the loss to Uruguay in its Paraguay's last group game.
• Brazil advanced with a 1-0 win, Lucas Paqueta finishing a nifty buildup and Brazil holding on after Gabriel Jesus' 48th minute ejection.
• Brazil beat Peru, 3-1, in the 2019 Copa America final.
