The semifinals produced one goal in four hours and set up a final between defending Olympic champs Brazil and 1992 gold medalist Spain. The Brazilians defeated Mexico in a shootout tiebreaker after a scoreless tie. Spain beat host Japan, 1-0, thanks to Marco Asensio’s 115th minute goal.
