MLS All-Stars: Five U.S. Gold Cup champions picked

Five U.S. Gold Cup champions -- including Best XI picks Miles Robinson and Matt Turner -- were among 28 players named to the MLS All-Star team for the league's annual All-Star Game on Aug. 25 against the Liga MX all-stars at LAFC's Banc of California Stadium.

Other U.S. Gold Cup picks were Walker Zimmerman, James Sands and Cristian Roldan.

Roldan is one of six All-Stars from the Seattle Sounders, the most of any team. All were among the 13 players selected in fan, player and media voting. One of the other Sounders is Roldan's younger brother, Alex Roldan, who played for El Salvador at the Gold Cup.

LAFC head coach Bob Bradley picked an additional 13 players while 17-year-old Cade Cowell, the youngest All-Star, and Tajon Buchanan, the Gold Cup's top Young Player, were selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
V-Pedro Gallese, 31

Matt Turner, 27 (New England, USA). Top keeper at Gold Cup.

Julian Araujo, 19 (LA Galaxy, USA). Three assists in the last 4 matches.

Jesus Murillo, 27 (LAFC, Colombia). Deal for permanent transfer reached in January.
V-Nouhou, 24 (Seattle, Cameroon). Outstanding in new role at left center back.
Miles Robinson, 24 (Atlanta United, USA). Gold Cup Best XI selection.
V-Alex Roldan, 25 (Seattle, USA/El Salvador). One of 3 Sounder defenders on All-Stars.
James Sands, 21 (NYCFC, USA). NYCFC's first Homegrown signing in 2017.
Kai Wagner, 24 (Philadelphia, Germany). Thirteen assists in 3 seasons.
V-Yeimar Gomez, 29 (Seattle, Colombia). Anchor in Sounders' new 3-5-2 system.
V-Walker Zimmerman, 28 (Nashville SC, USA). 2020 MLS Defender of the Year.

, 24 (LAFC, Colombia). One of more All-Star picks from host team.
V-Carles Gil, 28 (New England, Spain). On pace to break MLS assist record (15 in 17 games).
Damir Kreilach, 32 (Real Salt Lake, Croatia). Has scored 33 goals in 4 MLS seasons.
V-Joao Paulo, 30 (Seattle, Brazil). Option to complete his permanent transfer exercised in 2021.
Emanuel Reynoso, 25 (Minn. United, Argentina). Record 7 assists in 3 games in 2020 playoffs.
V-Cristian Roldan, 26 (Seattle, USA). One of first pair of brothers named to All-Stars.
V-Lucas Zelarayan, 29 (Columbus, Argentina). Named MLS Cup 2020 MVP with 2 goals.

Gustavo Bou, 31
(New England, Argentina). Tied for second with 10 goals.
*Tajon Buchanan, 22 (New England, Canada). Voted Gold Cup's top Young Player.
*Cade Cowell, 17 (San Jose, USA). First player to reach 4 goals and 4 assists in 2021.
V-Javier Hernandez, 33 (LA Galaxy, Mexico). Ten goals in first 10 games, hasn't played since.
V-Nani, 34 (Orlando City Portugal). Sixth in goals (8) and tied for third in assists (6).
Ricardo Pepi, 18 (FC Dallas, USA). Youngest player in MLS  to score a hat trick.

Diego Rossi, 21 (LAFC, Uruguay). Has 47 goals in 100 career appearances.
V-Raul Ruidiaz, 31 (Seattle, Peru). Leads all MLS scorers with 11 goals.
Daniel Salloi, 25 (Sporting KC, Hungary). Scored 10 goals in 2021, just one in 2019-20.
V-Carlos Vela, 32 (LAFC, Mexico). Third inclusion on MLS All-Stars.
