TCU women gets monkey off their back

TCU has emerged out of the Big 12 as a national contender. But one thing the Horned Frogs haven't been able to do before this season is beat Texas A&M.

The only loss TCU suffered in the 2020-21 regular season was a 1-0 defeat to Texas A&M, which improved to 13-0-0 against the Horned Frogs.

TCU finally got its first win over Texas A&M with a 2-1 win over the Aggies Sunday night before a Garvey-Rosenthal record crowd of 2,994 fans.

Brandi Peterson was involved in both goals, hitting a cross that deflected off a Texas A&M defender's leg for an own goal in the 11th minute and putting TCU ahead 2-0 with a goal of her own in the 77th minute.

TCU head coach Eric Bell:
“I told the group that now that we’ve got the monkey off our back in beating A&M, now we can have the confidence that we can beat anyone we play. Hopefully it propels us to a quality non-conference schedule and then into Big 12 play.”
TCU enjoyed its best season ever in 2020-21 when it won the Big 12 tournament in the fall and reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in the spring.
