Josh Sargent: 'Never a bad thing to get a couple of goals'

Josh Sargent quickly learned the reality of being on a promoted team in the English Premier League when Norwich City opened the 2021-22 season with a 3-0 loss to Liverpool and 5-0 defeat at Manchester.

The Carabao Cup, at least the early stages, is something different.

After cameos against Liverpool and Manchester City, Sargent started and scored twice in the 6-0 win over visiting Bournemouth in Tuesday's second round.

“It was alright," he told the Norwich City Web site. "Never a bad thing to get a couple of goals and the team performed very well and the fans were amazing so it was a good night."

Sargent started the 2021-22 season at Werder Bremen, where he played with Milot Rashica, another Norwich City summer signing. Greek newcomer Christos Tzolis also scored twice against Bournemouth.

Sargent on his fellow newcomers:
“From the very start, Milot has obviously helped me come into the team very quickly, but it wasn’t hard with all the guys because they all have good character. From the first day, Christos got here as well, we’ve been pretty close to each other so hopefully we can take that into the next games and see what we can do. It was definitely a good response from the team [to Saturday’s defeat. We’re hoping to take this momentum into the next game against Leicester and bag a few more goals.”

Antonee Robinson scored his first goal in two seasons at Fulham with an insurance goal in stoppage time in the Cottagers' 2-0 win at Birmingham City ... Ethan Horvath was in goal for struggling Nottingham Forest's 4-0 home loss to Wolves.
