One of the most impressive outings by an American in Europe on Saturday was Gianluca Busio
's performance for Italian club Venezia.
Busio, who was acquired from Sporting KC in August, started in midfield and had a hand in Venezia's 2-1 win at Empoli, its first in three games since its return to Serie A.
Busio was involved in the first Venezia goal, springing Mattia Aramu
, whose cross found Frenchman Thomas Henry
in the 12th minute. He also blocked three shots in the battle of promoted teams.
Gazzetta dello Sport gave Busio a 7 (on a scale of 1-10), one of the highest grades in the match.
Venezia plays its first home match of the season next Sunday when it hosts Spezia. It lost its first two games: 3-0 at Udinese and 2-0 at Napoli.
