Yanks Abroad: Catarina Macario scores two more goals for Lyon

Catarina Macario scored two goals to lead Lyon to a 6-0 win over Dijon in the D1 Arkema.

The 22-year-old forward has begun her first full season with the French powerhouse by scoring four goals in five games.

She will return to the United States for a pair of friendlies against Paraguay during the September international window for women's national team.

OL has opened the season with three league wins by a margin of 15-0 and a pair of 2-1 wins over Levante in qualifying for the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Defending champion Paris St. Germain and Paris FC also have nine points after three games in the D1 Arkema.

She is starting to fully realize her potential. Of course she can score as a 9, but I'm hoping Vlatko can evolve how the Nats play with CM as our 10. No better time than after a major tournament.

I want Macario to fulfill the promise we saw in her college career.  But we are getting a little ahead of ourselves based on the teams Lyon played in the D1 Arkema to date:

12 Team league: Dijon 8th Place; Reims 11th Place; St. Etienne 12th Place.....

The USWNT needs to accept the fact that she is the future, and okay her at the position that best capitalizes on her skills , regardless of who it might offend.  To date, the USWNT has mis-used her.  The Olympics were a huge failing in that regard.

You are saying that we should build the USWNT around a player with 8 caps and 1 goal? That is unrealistic and puts too much pressure on the player. In 2015 Ellis stopped building the team around just one player. And the team played much better.

Given the way the USWNT plays, with four solid midfielders competing for 6, 10 and 8, Macarios's best role is as 9.  If Julie Ertz were to surrender 10, I would put Macario there. At Stanford, which sometimes effectively played 4 midfielders, she was either a deep-lying 9 or an attacking 8.

I can't figure out what you intended to say.
