2. MLS: De Rosario scores from halfway; Wizards hold Bulls; Hartman howler hurts L.A.

Houston's Dwayne De Rosario scored his ninth goal of the season by beating Chicago goalkeeper Zach Thornton with a shot from the halfway line. The incredible strike gave the Dynamo a 2-1 lead, but Chicago came away with a 2-2 tie thanks to Andy Heron's 75th minute penalty kick, awarded for a Brad Davis foul on Chris Armas. De Rosario's strike puts him in position to win a third-straight goal of the year award. ... Bruce Arena's Bulls put on a good show in Kansas City thanks much to Amado Guervara but settled for a 2-2 tie, which keeps them a point out of the fourth-place playoff spot. Guevara brilliantly set up John Wolyniec for New York's first goal after nut-megging and weaving his way through the Wizards' defense. The Wizards stayed in the playoff zone thanks to a player who had hoped to leave the club. Josh Wolff, who earlier in the day had been denied a British work permit that would have allowed him to join Derby County, finished off a nice pass from Jose Burciaga. ... Real Salt Lake's Jeff Cunningham reclaimed the top spot in the leading scorers' race with his 15th goal, the gamewinner in a 1-0 win over Los Angeles, with help from Galaxy keeper Kevin Hartman and the scorekeeper who didn't charge the keeper with an own goal. Hartman let the ball, which was rolling parallel to the goal line, go between his legs and ricochet off his hands into the goal. The Galaxy dropped to last place in the West while Salt Lake moved into a tie with Colorado in the fourth-place playoff spot. Real's win came four days after its 6-0 loss to the Red Bulls. ...Midfielder Ramon Nunez scored his sixth goal of the season and Richard Mulrooney struck his first as first-place Dallas ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Colorado.
