NWSL: Kansas City to move into Children's Mercy Park in 2022

The NWSL team in Kansas City will play its 2022 home matches at Children’s Mercy Park, home of MLS's Sporting KC.

For its first season, Kansas City is playing at Legends Field, a baseball stadium. Its largest crowd was 5,368 for the 1-0 win over OL Reign on Aug. 14, its first ever win. Kansas City has won just two of 18 regular-season games.

Six other NWSL teams are playing at least some of their games in current MLS stadiums. In 2022, expansion Angel City will played in LAFC's stadium.

FC Kansas City, which played in the NWSL for the league's first five seasons and won two championships, bounced around small facilities across the Kansas City area.

It began at Shawnee Mission District Stadium, a high school stadium in Overland Park, Kansas, then played at UMKC's Durwood Soccer Stadium before moving to Sporting Kansas City's training facility at Swope Soccer Village.
