MLS: Fusion waives Dusty Hudock and Andreas Maier

The Miami Fusion waived goalkeeper Dusty Hudock and midfielder Andreas Maier April 7 to trim its roster to 20 active players. Hudock started all three games for the Fusion this season compiling a 1-2 record with a 2.33 goals-against average. He became expendable after Jeff Cassar recovered from off-season knee surgery. Coach Ivo Wortman opted to go with Garth Lagerwey, picked up off waivers Feb. 27, as Cassar's backup instead of Hudock. "We decided to keep [Lagerwey] because he has more MLS experience," said Wortmann. Maier joined the Fusion Feb. 23 as a discovery player, but did not see any action with the team. He played last season with the D3 Pro League's Central Jersey Riptide.
