NWSL: Thorns clinch second Shield

The Portland Thorns won their second NWSL Shield when they clinched first place in the regular season with a 1-0 win over the Houston Dash.

U.S. international Lindsey Horan scored the game's only goal just before the end of the first half after Morgan Weaver laid the ball off for her.

Portland, which also won the 2016 regular-season title, is the third team to win multiple NWSL Shields after the Seattle Reign (2014, 2015) and North Carolina Courage (2017, 2018, 2019).

The Thorns tied a league record with their 12th shutout of the season, setting a new club record.
