Rafael Benítez‘s Everton responded to a fan protest threat with an impressive 2-1 over Arsenal. In the 2nd minute of stoppage time, slick prep work from Filipe Andre Gomes, who launched the counterattack and evaded two Gunners near the center circle, preceded Demarai Gray‘s 24-yard shot after his feints fooled the defenders. The 2-1 win prevented Everton from matching its longest winless streak (nine games) since the mid-1990s. Fans had planned a 27th minute walkout to mark 27 years without a trophy — but most remained and were rewarded.
