Concacaf U-20 Women's Championship: USA storms into quarterfinals

In the round of 16, Coach Tracey Kevins' team outshot Suriname 66-0 in a 14-0 win that sends the USA into the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The USA, which won its three Group E games by a combined score of 20-0, got hat tricks from forwards Andrea Kitahata and Michelle Cooper in the win over Suriname. Midfielder Emily Colton and forward Alyssa Thompson each scored twice.

Kitahata, a Stanford sophomore, leads the tournament with seven goals.

The top three finishers -- the two finalists and the third-place game victor -- will earn spots at the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup this summer in Costa Rica.

    Being that I love good competition for myself, I would be embarrassed to play out there. I would have told the coach put someone  else in there for me or I might rather have gone to see what's on sale at the Dollar Store...

    Frank, this is the reality of CONCACAF soccer for the women. For the women it is purely about player development. The federation question is what age group do you want to send to the U20 qualifiers. Obviously USSF is risk adverse and it leads to wasted player development opportunities for the U18s and U16s.

    The score was 3-0 at half time. Obviously the coaches were risk adverse too (one of the "subs" scored a second half hat trick). They didn't rest the best players for the quarters. If I remember correctly we already made the quarters before this match.

    I finally got around to watching the Game;
    Coach is trying Desperately to find a Position for #4.
    She can only play CT.Back... so got to move either #15 or #5
    #5 can play Lf Back, and this would have been a good game to try it... But, Coach Won't take out #13 at LfBack(Weak Technical Link on the Team)
    ???? Moultrie can't even get on the Field.???
    Something Funny There.???
    #6 has None of the Soccer Sense that Moultrie has.
    But, the Team is Playing without much "Sense", Lots of Turbo.
    Patterson of the 4 Goals doesn't see Fields either.???
