Watch: More heartbreak for Hamburg SV

Hamburg SV, famous for its record 55 straight years in the Bundesliga, will spend a fifth straight season in the second division. It lost the second leg of its promotion-relegation playoff, 2-0, at home after winning the first leg, 1-0, at Hertha Berlin, which has now survived nine straight seasons at the top tier.

On Monday in Hamburg, Hertha's Dedryck Boyata struck in the fourth minute and Marvin Plattenhardt scored the deciding goal in the 63rd.

HSV had been at the top tier from the Bundesliga's 1963 inception until its 2018 relegation. Hertha Berlin's coach is HSV legend Felix Magath.

Hertha Berlin's deciding goal was remarkably similar to HSV's goal in its 1-0 first leg win.
