MLS: Crew hires Jim Launder as assistant coach

The Columbus Crew has hired Jim Launder, who in 1995 head-coached Wisconsin to the Division I NCAA title, as assistant coach. Launder replaces Oscar Pisano and joins assistant Robert Warzycha on Head Coach Greg Andrulis' staff.

Pisano's contract was not renewed at the end of the 2002 season.

Launder most recently served as assistant coach of the 2002 A-League champion Milwaukee Rampage and as Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association Director of Coaching.

During Launder's 15-year stint at Wisconsin the Badgers' never had a losing season. He was head coach of the University of Dayton in 1997-99 and guided the Flyers to back-to-back Atlantic-10 titles.
