Youth Report: USA wins Sud Ladies Cup

The USA beat the Netherlands in a shootout after their final match at the Sud Ladies Cup ended in a 2-2 tie.

The USA, which defeated host France, 3-1, and Mexico, 3-0, won the tournament for under-20 women's national teams.

Duke's Michelle Cooper put the USA ahead in the fifth minute and the Washington Spirit's Jaedyn Shaw equalized in the 63rd minute after Danique Noordman and Ziva Henry scored for the Dutch, who earned their first point in the tournament played at the Stade de Lattre in Aubagne.

The Americans finished with eight points, two ahead of France, a 2-1 winner over Mexico, which finished third with three points.

The USA and the Netherlands will meet again when they play in the Under-20 Women's World Cup, which will be held Aug. 10-27 in Costa Rica. Japan and Ghana are also in their group. France and Mexico will also be represented in Costa Rica.
