San Diego Wave moves back on top. The expansion club will head into the September international break with the lead thanks to a 2-0 win at Portland before 18,624 fans. Alex Morgan set up Kristen McNabb for the first goal and added to the Wave's lead late in the first half with her league-high 13th goal of the season. San Diego, Portland and Houston began the day tied for points. The Dash needed a stoppage-time goal from Michelle Alozie to earn a 2-2 tie with Washington, extending the Spirit's winless streak to 16 games.
