Watch: Ricardo Pepi's first assist in Europe

In his first Dutch Eredivisie game last weekend, Ricardo Pepi came on at halftime and intercepted a pass in midfield to spark the counterattack that led to the game-winning goal, by Tomas Suslov, in a 1-0 victory over SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden. The 19-year-old is on loan from Freiburg, for which he failed to score or assist in 15 Bundesliga games after arriving from FC Dallas last January.

To call that an assist, I guess, technically, it is but to me an assist ,in my judgement, is a pass around the penalty area cutting through to defenders to a teammate or to an open space for teammate to run onto for a shot. But calling this little short pass to an wide open teammate near  him, near the midfield line ,then making a run way downfield with the ball an assist is REDICULOUS!!! Are we that hardup to find good news about our players from Europe or about Pepi..

Still recovering from surgery. Nothing from her twitter account in the past month. Her inclusion in the squad and getting into playing condition before the WC is the biggest variable for Vlatko.
