Major League Soccer: Offseason moves

Jonathan Bond signed a contract extension with The LA Galaxy, keeping him in Carson through 2024 with an option for 2025, the club announced Monday morning.

• James Pantemis, the Canadian goalkeeper who played as a back-up in Qatar, will remain with CF Montréal for another year with a 2024 and 2025 option. Pantemis is one of Montreal’s few core players remaining in Canada —  teammates Alistair Johnson, Djordje Mihailovic and Ismaël Koné have left for Europe, while captain Victor Wanyama is out of contract and unlikely to be re-signed.

Marcelo Silva, the Uruguayan center back who captained Real Salt Lake when Damir Kreilach was out injured, is staying in Utah for at least a sixth MLS season. He re-signed for an undisclosed length, the team announced on Friday.

Victor Vazquez rejoins Toronto from LA Galaxy via the re-entry draft, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s only treble (MLS cup, supporter’s shield, Canadian Championship) in 2017. The La Masia academy product was not as effective in LA, where he spent two years under Greg Vanney.
