• The Oakland Roots became the latest USL Championship team to sign a U.S. youth international with the addition of 17-year-old
Ethan Kohler. He most recently played for the U.S. U-19s in April 2022. Kohler is a product of the San Jose Earthquakes academy and played 11 games for Earthquakes II in MLS Next Pro in its inaugural season. He
previously committed at Stanford. The Roots earlier signed 17-year-old
Drew Murray from the Quakes academy.
