Roster: The USA 20 headed to Concacaf Men's U-17 Championship

Coach Gonzalo Segares has named his 20-player roster for the Concacaf U-17 Championship (Feb. 11-22 in Guatemala) that will determine the region’s four teams for the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Peru — for players born in 2006 or later.

• All the U.S. players are 2006s besides 2007-born forward Ezekiel Soto.
• Four players are foreign-based.
• The San Jose Earthquakes are the best represented club with three players.

GOALKEEPERS (2)

Adam Beaudry (Colorado Rapids; Castle Pines, Colo.)
Moved to Rapids Academy in 2021 from Real Colorado and was selected to the 2022 MLS Next All-Star team. Saw MLS Next Pro action for Rapids 2 last July.
 
Diego Kochen (FC Barcelona/Spain; Miramar, Fla.)
Finished third in 2022 U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year voting behind Paxten Aaronson and winner Yunus Musah. The Miami native played for Weston FC before joining Barcelona’s youth program and has risen to the Barcelona B team.


DEFENDERS (6)

Christian Diaz (LAFC; San Bernardino, Calif.)
Was part of the first U-17 national team camp of this cycle in November 2021 and is one of seven players in the squad called up seven of eight camps of the cycle.

Tyler Hall (Inter Miami CF; Miramar, Fla.)
Played nine MLS Next Pro games for Inter Miami CF II and was the youngest player to start during the league's inaugural week. Played with Inter Miami’s U-17 Academy team that reached the semifinals of the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup.

Aidan Harangi (Eintracht Frankfurt/Germany; Zwingenberg, Germany)
Born in Virginia to a Hungarian father. Joined Eintracht Frankfurt’s youth program in 2018 and has seen UEFA Youth League action.

Stuart Hawkins (Seattle Sounders; Fox Island, Wash.)
Joined the Seattle Sounders at age 12 through the Sounders Discovery Program and signed with its MLS Next Pro affiliate last June at age 15. Made four MLS Next Pro appearances. MVP of the Generation adidas Cup when his Sounders team lifted the U-17 title with a final win over Tigres UNAL.

Sawyer Jura (Portland Timbers; Bend, Ore.)
Right back made three MLS Next Pro appearances, recording one assist, for the Portland Timbers 2 in the MLS Next Pro.

Oscar Verhoeven (San Jose Earthquakes; Pleasant Hill, Calif.)
Part of the Quakes' trio with Cruz Medina and Edwyn Mendoza that has been attending USYNT camps since U-14s.

MIDFIELDERS (7)

Christopher Aquino (Seattle Sounders; Pasco, Wash.)
Joined the Sounders in 2018 at age 12. In 2022, Aquino scored in the Sounders' 2-0 Generation adidas Cup final victory over Tigres. Scored seven goals in 12 MLS Next U-17 appearances and was selected to MLS Next All-Star game. Signed with the Tacoma Defiance in December. Made this squad after first being called into to January 2023 camp.

Adrian Gill (Barcelona/Spain; Denver, Colo.)
Colorado native moved to Spain when his parents relocated and joined Barcelona in 2018 after being spotted playing for UE Cornella's U-11s. The central midfielder plays for Barcelona's U-18s.

Taha Habroune (Columbus Crew; Columbus, Ohio)
Columbus native joined Crew academy in 2017 at U-12s. Has since played for U-19s. A dual national (Morocco), he earned first U-17 call-up in January.

Cruz Medina (San Jose Earthquakes; San Francisco, Calif.)
Signed MLS Homegrown contract with the Earthquakes at age 15 in June 2022. The Golden Ball winner at the 2021 MLS Next Cup, he played for his father, Antonio Medina, with the San Francisco Glens before joining the Quakes. Appeared in 16 MLS Next Pro games.

Edwyn Mendoza (San Jose Earthquakes; San Francisco, Calif.),
Defensive midfielder is part of Earthquakes trio that has been a mainstay since start of cycle.

Paulo Rudisill (LA Galaxy; Irvine, Calif.)
Attacking midfielder won 2021 MLS Next U-15 Golden Ball while captaining and playing every minute for LA Galaxy, which he joined in 2018. Appeared in three USL Championship games with Galaxy II in 2022.

Pedro Soma (UE Cornella/ESP; Coconut Creek, Fla.)
Born in Florida, the Brazilian-American midfielder now plays in Spain for UE Cornella’s youth academy and has played in friendlies for its first team in the third division. He earned a call-up to Catalan youth national team (not an official FIFA team).

FORWARDS (5)
Micah Burton (Austin FC; Mounds View, Minn.)
With Minnesota United when he was invited to a 2019 Central Region U-14 talent ID camp, he joined Austin FC's academy in 2020. Burton scored twice at last September's Vaclav Jezek Youth Tournament.

Brian Carmona (Charlotte FC; Concord, N.C.)
Romero joined Charlotte FC at age 14 in 2020, from the Charlotte Soccer Academy, and in August of 2022 became its first Homegrown signing. He made his first-team debut off the bench in a friendly against Chelsea in July 2022 and drew a penalty kick. He is expected to play for Charlotte FC’s MLS Next Pro team in 2023.

Keyrol Figueroa (Liverpool/ENG; Warrington, U.K.)
Son of Honduran star Maynor Figueroa (181 caps), who played in MLS in 2015-2021 after seven years in England with Wigan and Hull. Tegucigalpa-born Keyrol joined Liverpool's academy at U-14.

Ezekiel Soto (Houston Dynamo FC; Menifee, Calif.)
Soto joined the Houston Dynamo in 2021 from Southern California's Murrieta Soccer Academy, where he played for six years.

David Vasquez (Philadelphia Union; Los Angeles, Calif.)
Played for Southern California's Total Futbol Academy when invited 2019 West Region U-14 talent ID camp. He was part Philadelphia Union’s 2022 U-17 MLS Next Cup-winning team, scoring in the final, and made his MLS Next Pro debut last July.
