Datebook: 2023 Open Cup begins in March with 14 first-round games

The 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup kicks off March 21-23 with the first round.

The 14 matches involve teams from the USL League Two (10), NPSL (8), Open Division fall qualifying (9) as well as the 2022 Amateur Cup champion, Wisconsin's Bavarian United, qualified automatically for the first round.

The teams include the NPSL's El Farolito SC, which won the 1993 Open Cup as CD Mexico. Other teams of note in the first round include the USL League Two's Des Moines Menace, back for a 15th Open Cup appearance and Ocean City Nor’easters, who are playing in the Open Cup for the 11th time.

    Should be noted that both Chicago House AC and Bavarian United are members of the Midwest Premier League.
