Who Represents Tevez and Mascherano?

The Independent introduces us to Pini Zahavi, the man who brokered the infamous deal that sent Argentine pair Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham United for virtually nothing. Zahavi, a friend of Media Sport Investment owner Kia Joorabchian, the man who now wishes to take over West Ham, told The Independent that money had very little to do with his motivation for representing the players as their agentas his personal fortune is great enough to buy a Premiership club on his own. Tevez and Mascherano have each signed five-year deals with West Ham United, and were advised to do so by him. West Ham, by the way, paid no transfer fee. "I'm the one who told them to go to West Ham," Zahavi told The Independent. "It's the best thing for them at this stage of their career, for them to stay together and play for the same team and not to have the pressure of being at a big club. Foreign players need time to adjust and are not always well treated." He said West Ham provided the right environment because the players will become "heroes" there, where they'll be looked after and made to feel welcome. Zahavi confirmed that he and the players looked at other clubs, but they were not willing to agree to certain contractual arrangements, like the players appearing in every match. West Ham, of course, denied these claims. However, it has been confirmed that the South Americans are owned and controlled by Joorabchian and a list of unnamed backers. Zahavi said their arrival at West Ham has nothing to do with Joorabchian's bid to take the club over.
