It was too little too late for Benfica, which scored in the 86th minute and four minutes into stoppage time for a 3-3 tie with Inter Milan, a 5-3 aggregate winner in the UEFA Champions League semifinal clash.

Inter faces archrival AC Milan for a chance to meet the winner of Manchester City-Real Madrid in the 2023 final.

Inter was the last Italian team to win the Champions League, in 2010 over Bayern Munich. (It was Inter's third win after 1964 and 1965). AC Milan won the last of its seven titles in 2007, over Liverpool.
