A pair of dramatic wins sent Israel to the quarterfinals of a FIFA 11-a-side world championship for the first time. At the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, Israel reached the second round thanks to a 2-1 win over Japan in its last group game in which it scored comeback goals — Roy Navi (76th minute) and Omer Senior (90+1) while playing with 10 men. In the round of 16, Israel beat Uzbekistan with a goal by Anan Khalaili in the 7th minute of stoppage time.
