They began the weekend among four teams tied for second place one point behind surprise leader Gotham FC.
Sophia Smith and Christine Sinclair scored to give Portland a 2-0 win over OL Reign in the second game of Saturday's Seattle-Portland doubleheader at Lumen Field that drew an announced crowd of 42,054 fans for the Sounders-Timbers MLS game.
On Sunday, the Wave ended Gotham FC's unbeaten league run of four games with a 1-0 win on Makenzy Doniak's goal 44 seconds into the second half. The match drew a Gotham record crowd of 15,058 at Red Bull Arena.
